How to Achieve Ultimate Party Hair with These Four Looks

Although we might all be back at work, the party season certainly isn’t over. Summer is still in full swing and that means there’s still plenty of weddings, parties and barbecues to attend. And with a new year upon us, the remaining summer months are a great time to try out a new do. Here’s our guide to achieving ultimate party hair, with four easy and super effective looks that will suit whether you have long or short locks, and help you keep the festive season going well into the new year.

Super Straight Hair

Super straight hair is always a winner. It’s a look that is sleek and chic, yet simple and easy to achieve at any hair length. Getting super straight hair starts in the shower. Condition hair well, and avoid towel drying (as this enhances natural curl). Give yourself a blow out with a hair dryer facing down, apply a heat protectant, split your hair into sections, hold taut and straighten. Let hair cool down, then add a light hairspray to hold. This is a great hair look to rock with a middle part, or grab a hair tie and throw your hair up in a sleek pony while you dance the night away. We recommend you book in for a new year trim to tidy up any summer split ends and make your look extra tidy and clean cut.

Grungy Texture

Grunge is in. Our version of summer grunge is all about texture. In order to get the best grungy texture we recommend you use Redken’ s Fashion Waves to add some salty volume. For extra thickness and volume, grab some Powder Grip and work it into the roots. You can change up your grunge look with loose waves, a centre-parted and tucked look, or a messy bun. Pro tip – keep a hair clip, tie or scrunchie in your bag for a last minute hair change. The grunge look suits a loose bun, or even tie a bun to create some wave and volume and then take it out before the event for some extra va-va-voomf.

Hair Ribbons

Hair ribbons are an easy way to level up your look. A great way to incorporate a hair accessory is to keep the style of the actual hair loose. So think soft waves, or a relaxed updo with face framing tendrils. There are many ways to embrace ribbons, including a high pony and ribbon, Princess Leia buns with ribbons on each side, a ribbon headband, a low ponytail and oversized ribbon, or braids with thin ribbons braided through the lengths. Play around with different colours and lengths for an extra fun look.

Wet Look Hair

Inspired by the likes of Gigi Hadid and Kim Kardashian, wet look hair is a serious just-stepped-out-of-the-ocean statement. There are a couple of different ways to get the look. If you want to style your hair straight from wet, mix some hair gel and shine cream in your hands and smooth through front to back before combing. If your hair is dry before styling, grab some pomade, mix with wax and style into place. Wet look hair is great to experiment with – try a slick back, side part, wet waves (add some gems and hair accessories for a mermaid inspired look), or loose tie back - the options are endless.
