The Hair Ingredients you Need to Know About

Want to know what’s in your favourite haircare products? We’ve put together a guide to the hair ingredients you need to know about, and our favourite products that use them.

Biotin

Biotin is an essential B vitamin that is used to promote hair health and growth. Biotin can be found in Redken’s Extreme Length Shampoo and Conditioner, Extreme Length Leave-In Treatment, and Extreme Length Triple Action Treatment Mask.

Argan Oil

Argan oil is made from the kernels that grow on argan trees native to Morocco. The power of argan oil is used in the Redken All Soft range, which includes shampoo, conditioner, hair oil and a treatment mask.

Arginine

Arginine is a building block of proteins. You can find arginine in Redken’s Extreme Strenghtening Shampoo and Conditioner, which use the power of arginine, amino acids and arginine to condition and smoothen hair.

Citric Acid

Citric acid works to lower the pH of hair care products, which can improve formula functions and the look and feel of hair. You can find citric acid in Redken’s Acidic Bonding Concentrate range, which includes shampoo, conditioner and leave-in treatments to renourish and strengthen the weakened bonds in hair. Formulated with an acidic pH, these bonding products balance pH while defending against the negative effects of hair colouring. They also provide heat protection and reduce frizz and breakage.

Cica

Cica is a green herb used in hair care products to reduce hair loss and promote hair growth. You can find cica in Redken’s Extreme Bleach Recovery Cica Cream Leave-In Treatment, made to repair hair damaged from bleaching and highlighting.

Babassu Oil

Babassu works to moisturise and condition. You can find baassu oil in Redken’s Frizz Dismiss Hair Mask Intense Smoothing Treatment, designed to deeply moisturise and increase smoothness and manageability.
